Clive's Top Fives: Urban Venues

We love discovering cool and quirky new venues that make your events really stand out. With so many great spaces right across London, our search for the perfect event venues has taken us to some pretty weird and wonderful places. Check out Clive’s latest Top Five and leave the legwork to us…

The Steel Yard

If you’re looking for a venue with some character, The Steel Yard has it in bundles.

This quirky space is made up of two restored Victorian railway arches. Located under Cannon Bridge Station, it offers easy access to Central London.

With spaces for up to 150 for a dinner and standing receptions for 350, there’s space to let your creativity run riot and turn this blank canvas space into something spectacular.

The Bike Shed

We’re loving the look of this new venue on Old Street.

If you’re looking to put a bit of va va voom into your next event, look no further than Bike Shed.

Home to hit internet collective, Bike Shed Motorcycle Club, this quirky venue in the heart of Shoreditch boasts four large redeveloped railway arches spanning a massive 12,000 square feet, with its own 30m private road.

Beyond the uber stylish bike shop and bar/restaurant housed in arches 1 and 2, you’ll find two fantastic spaces, which are available for private hire. Arches 3 and 4 each have a capacity for 150-200 people and have been fitted out to the highest spec with poured concrete floors, underfloor heating and professional lighting rigging. The original features have been thoughtfully restored, making these two venues the perfect space for some seriously cool live events – the possibilities are endless.

Ugly Duck

Don’t let the name deceive you; far from being the Ugly Duckling, this fab Victorian warehouse near Tower Bridge is a thing of real beauty. Historically this unusual venue was a Victorian tannery and many of its original features still survive today.

Three stunning floors of the original building feature wooden beams and floorboards with exposed brick walls. The venue also features a walled yard, a rooftop with views of central London and a sparse industrial concrete garage space perfect for an experiential activation. One of our favourite features is the atmospheric Loft space located on the second floor, which boats a small mezzanine area and rooftop access for up to 120 guests.

Kachette

The double arched ticket hall of the old Shoreditch Station has been completely transformed to create an exciting new multi-functional event space.

Located a short 7 minute walk from Old Street station and available for dry hire, Arch 1 is a perfect venue for a conference, product launch, fashion show or private dinner, holding up to 120, with Arch 2 used as a registration or drinks reception space.

The beautiful exposed brickwork adds to the ambience and the venue offers great value for money with highly competitive hire packages. The billboards on Old Street can also be hired as part an event package, offering 18m2 of promotional event space on either side of the door.
