The trip of a lifetime; an automotive finance organisation takes top performers to Hong Kong and Macau.

In November 2014 one automotive financial services client went all out with the destination for its incentive programme, jetting its 36 top performing dealer principals off to the Pearl of the Orient, Hong Kong, before a short trip to nearby Macau.

Following amazing incentive trips to the likes of Cape Town and Rio, Clive needed another destination that would have participants climbing the ladder to sales success, and as ever it had to be a city of experiences. In Hong Kong that’s exactly what you get – jaw dropping sights with unique Chinese culture.

Guests qualified for this trip via a programme Clive devised called “East Meets West”, a league table system that saw dealers gain points for every finance package sale made in their dealership. As well as designing the brand, Clive also built the website for the programme, featuring sales results and teasers. Monthly e-mails kept dealers’ interest and ensured everyone was motivated to sell finance, in the hope of a place on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The lucky 36 who qualified enjoyed three nights in the Chinese metropolis, staying at one of Hong Kong’s premier hotels, the exquisite Mandarin Oriental, before heading across to Macau, Asia’s gambling mecca.

A welcome dinner in a private box at Happy Valley racecourse kicked off a six-day programme of incredible Hong Kong experiences. Guests saw the famous night horse racing; were whisked through the city’s markets; left awestruck watching the Symphony of Lights show from a Chinese Junk; took to the seas for a dragon boat race; and enjoyed dinner on the top floor of the old Bank of China.

But the experiences didn’t stop there! The group journeyed from Hong Kong to Macau via a Hydrofoil for the last leg of the trip. The final day included a tour of the city, with its glitzy casinos and top-class restaurants. In one incredible Chinese city, Guests enjoyed a taste of the Mediterranean and Las Vegas from the comfort the Venetian Hotel. Non-stop from start to finish, even the day of departure began with tickets to the Manny Pacquiao World Championship boxing match.

This incentive programme worked for Clive’s client and dealers alike – dealers were incentivised into getting on an amazing money-can’t-buy trip to the other side of the world, while the client benefitted from an uplift in sales. And while we can’t say Hong Kong and Macau proved to be the driving force behind this sales spike, with such an exciting programme… we’re pretty sure it helped!
